Study Skills

At Together Enabled Ltd, we support students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) and Autism in developing study skills. Our goal is to help students become independent learns.

Guided by each student’s needs, our tutors discuss potential strategies (including multisensory approaches) that might be beneficial. The student chooses which strategies they find appropriate, and we work together to implement them effectively.

Recognising that ‘one size does not fit all’, we may suggest the following strategies:

Reading Together

  • Ensure correct understanding of assignment titles and briefs.
  • Help students find relevant information in texts by focusing on different reading skills suited for various contexts.
  • Assist students in making their own work coherent and in identifying errors with the tutor’s guidance.

Researching Together

  • Promote consistent use of referencing software.
  • Teach effective and accurate use of online libraries.
  • Help students research effectively.

  • Encourage appropriate use of technology to support writing.
  • Analyse different writing styles for various purposes.

Organise Academic Tasks Together

  • Develop time management skills through effective timetabling, lists and mind maps.
  • Support accountability by setting targets and goals for students to work towards.
  • Maintain flexibility to adapt to unexpected events.

The list is not exhaustive! Our tutors have extensive experience and will customise their approach to meet each student’s unique learning style.
